The National Executive Council of the Law Students Association of Nigeria, led by the National President, Comr. Osijo Adedayo, together with the General Secretary, Uwais Abdulrahman and the Public Relations Officer, Salis Sabo also with the National Senate President, Amir Albushra and the Chief of Staff to the National President, Timilehin Ojo paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School Mr. Olanrewaju Onadeko (SAN) at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja.
The visit which was timely, considering the number of issues raised with regards to the study of law in Nigeria. The visit was also a historic one as the association received the endorsement of the leadership of the Nigerian Law School, the body responsible for the vocational training of all lawyers in Nigeria.
The meeting which took place at the DG’s office at the Abuja Campus of the Nigerian Law School was graced by the Secretary of the Council of Legal Education, Director of Academics, Abuja Campus and the Director of Academics, Lagos Campus.
The familiarization visit was instructive in creating the much needed synergy between the leadership of the student body with the leadership of the Nigerian Law School. The National President also used the occasion to inform the DG of the activities and objectives of the association, especially the two pilot projects of the association.
The DG pledged the readiness of the Institution towards assisting the association in actualization of the projects, with professional advice and expertise. The DG was pleased to receive the delegation and restated the Institution availability when required.
The visit also was an avenue for the representatives of undergraduate law students across the federation to table some pressing issues that affects law students in Nigeria. Issues raised include the grading system of the institution, the performance of students, Non-accreditation of some faculties, the law school fees amongst other issues.
